A rigger’s habit on a golf street
Rhea Calloway was splicing dock lines on the Causeway when golf friends started bringing her drivers whose sleeves clicked after a summer at the beach. The shop on Dauphin opened in 2018 because those sleeves were a hardware problem, not a swing problem.

The tailor left a clapboard room
Suite 4 had been a tailor who retired and left a south window, a pressing table, and white siding that still peels in August. Rhea moved in a lathe, a humidity cabinet from a failed cigar locker, and a tray of OEM adapters. Mal Vickers showed up the second month because someone had to recut oval bores instead of greasing them.
The first summer we learned the bottle’s four-hour cure was a lie on Dauphin. Heads that left the same afternoon came back spinning after a Saturday on the Peninsula. Isla Dantzler joined to run the cabinet and to stop the shop from promising Friday pours for Saturday shotguns.
We still get people who found us looking for “loft and lie” and leave with a Collar Check instead. That is the point. Mobile already has places that bend irons. What it did not have was a room that treated chloride, swell, and bore oval as the first questions.
The name is literal. A bay for hosels. Not a slogan about launching farther. If a sleeve is honest and you still want notches, we will say so and send you to someone whose rack is built for that. We keep the joint.
The tailor’s steam press is gone. The clapboard and the humidity stayed. We built the rest around what salt does to a collar.
