Adapter
Sleeve that still has threads
We clean, clock, and torque an adjustable hosel that has not yet ovaled the bore. Salt-washed adapters get a new ferrule and a humidity-aware epoxy window.
Adapter sleeve notesMobile, Alabama · Hosel & bore shop
Hosel Bay sits in Suite 4 at 251 Dauphin Street and works the connection — adapter sleeve, tip-in stem, bore-through barrel, ferrule collar, and the epoxy film that Gulf humidity keeps from setting on a timer written in Denver. We do not sell a menu of loft notches. If the sleeve is walking, we seat it. If the bore is oval, we recut it.
Why Dauphin, not a loft rack
Mobile air carries chloride. It creeps under a ferrule, fattens a plastic collar, and leaves a white crust at the adapter threads. Players come in asking to “add two strong” on a sleeve they bought in 2019. The sleeve is already chewing the bore. Jacking a notch would hide that for a month.
We pull the head, clock the adapter, measure the bore, and decide whether the joint still has a round wall. If it does, we recollar and reset epoxy on a Gulf clock — not a bottle’s room-temperature claim. If it does not, we talk bore-through versus a fresh tip-in, not a new face.
Three jobs we actually take

Adapter sleeve notesBarrel
Some Gulf heads were born with a through-bore. Some were tip-in and then “converted” in a garage. We say which one you actually have before anyone pours resin.
Hold this jobCollar
Hygroscopic collars fatten in Mobile summers and then split when the air dries in October. We recollar to the measured hosel OD, not the catalog size.
Ferrule swell notesThey did not ask which loft I wanted. They asked whether the sleeve still sat round in the bore after two seasons at Magnolia Grove.
Suite 4, not a showroom
The shop is a white clapboard bay on Dauphin, one flight above the sidewalk. Heat lamps, a small lathe, bore gauges, and a humidity cabinet that we actually read. Parking is on Conti or the garage a block west. Sunday is shut. Saturday dies at noon because epoxy does not like a rush.
